Panel Upgrade

200A and 400A service changes for older Broward and Palm Beach homes.

Panel Upgrade — Mark 1 Electric
Panel Change · Coastal

South Florida is full of 100A panels from the 1970s and 80s serving homes that now have two AC units, a pool pump, a hot tub, and an EV charger on order. That's a fire hazard waiting to happen. A panel upgrade to 200A (or 400A for bigger properties) gives you the headroom modern homes actually need.

We handle the whole workflow: permit, load calculation, FPL disconnect and reconnect scheduling, install, and final inspection.

200A residential upgrades

Standard upgrade for most single-family homes. Includes new meter can, new main breaker panel, updated grounding electrode system, and code-required arc-fault and GFCI protection.

400A whole-property service

Estate homes, pool houses, guest houses, or properties with an EV + generator + big-load HVAC. 400A service split across two 200A panels.

Meter can & mast replacement

Coastal homes often have corroded meter cans and rusted masts. Full replacement including weather-head, mast strap, and service entrance conductors.

FPL coordination

We schedule the FPL disconnect and reconnect around your work — usually a same-day switch with no overnight power loss.

Grounding & bonding

Older homes routinely have grounding that no longer meets code. Every panel upgrade includes a full ground and bond audit and correction.

Common Questions · Panel Upgrade

Before you call.

How long am I without power?

Typically 4-8 hours during the actual switch, all in one day. We coordinate the FPL cut with the install so you're not out overnight.

Can you upgrade a Federal Pacific / Zinsco / Pushmatic panel?

Absolutely — those brands are what we recommend replacing on sight. They have known failure and fire history.

Do I need a permit?

Yes, always. Panel upgrades require a permit and final inspection in every South Florida jurisdiction. Anyone offering to skip it is not someone you want touching your electrical.
